# About QuranOnline

QuranOnline is a free, ad-supported Quran and prayer-times project, published as an Android app and as this website. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with any mosque, school of law or government body.

- Recitation audio: streamed from everyayah.com; not hosted here.

## Editorial policy

Every page falls into one of three kinds, each held to a different standard.

**Scripture and translation.** Reproduced verbatim from a named, licensed edition and never edited, reworded or abridged. If a source publishes a correction, it is taken; this project makes no corrections of its own to a text it did not establish.

**Generated fact.** Verse counts, revelation order, juz and page ranges, Hijri and Gregorian date tables, and prayer-time figures are computed from the verified database and published astronomical routines at build time. Nothing in this category is typed by hand. Where a figure is arithmetic rather than observed — a tabular Hijri date — the page says so.

**Written explanation.** The Learn articles and calculation-method pages are written by the project and describe how something is computed or how a convention is defined. They are not religious rulings.

This site deliberately publishes **no** tafsir, no claims about the virtues of particular surahs, no accounts of the circumstances of revelation, and no answers to questions of fiqh. Those require scholarly authority this project does not hold. Prayer times are a calculation, not a verdict: where a local authority announces different times, follow the local authority.

**How do I report an error in the text?**

Errors in scripture are the most serious kind this project can have and are prioritised over every other kind of work. Report one through the developer contact on the Google Play listing. Errors in the Arabic text itself are reported upstream to Tanzil rather than patched here.
