When recited: On opening the eyes, before rising from the bed — and before the morning azkar, which belong to the time after Fajr.


### 1. Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilayhin-nushur.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

*Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilayhin-nushur.*

> All praise is for Allah, who gave us life after He caused us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.

**What is said on waking up?**

The supplication of gratitude for being returned to life after sleep, and the supplication on turning over during the night. Both are on this page in Arabic with transliteration and translation.

**Are these the same as the morning azkar?**

No. These two are said at the moment of waking, whenever that is. The morning azkar are a separate set of 17 recited after the Fajr prayer.

**Why are there only two?**

Because only two supplications are established for the moment of waking itself. The site lists what is narrated rather than padding the set — the fuller collection for the start of the day is the morning azkar.
