# Surah Ad-Duha (الضحى)

Surah Ad-Duha (الضحى, "The Morning Hours") is chapter 93 of the Quran and contains 11 verses. It is a Meccan surah, revealed 11th of the 114. It appears in juz 30, on pages 596–596 of the standard mushaf, divided into 1 rukus.

## Text

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

**93:1** وَٱلضُّحَىٰ

> By the morning hours

**93:2** وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ

> And by the night when it is stillest,

**93:3** مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ

> Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee,

**93:4** وَلَلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ

> And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former,

**93:5** وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰٓ

> And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content.

**93:6** أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَـَٔاوَىٰ

> Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)?

**93:7** وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلًّا فَهَدَىٰ

> Did He not find thee wandering and direct (thee)?

**93:8** وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ

> Did He not find thee destitute and enrich (thee)?

**93:9** فَأَمَّا ٱلْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ

> Therefor the orphan oppress not,

**93:10** وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ

> Therefor the beggar drive not away,

**93:11** وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ

> Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse.
