# Surah Ash-Sharh (الشرح)

Surah Ash-Sharh (الشرح, "The Consolation") is chapter 94 of the Quran and contains 8 verses. It is a Meccan surah, revealed 12th of the 114. It appears in juz 30, on pages 596–596 of the standard mushaf, divided into 1 rukus.

## Text

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

**94:1** أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ

> Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate,

**94:2** وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ

> And eased thee of the burden

**94:3** ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ

> Which weighed down thy back;

**94:4** وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ

> And exalted thy fame?

**94:5** فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

> But lo! with hardship goeth ease,

**94:6** إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

> Lo! with hardship goeth ease;

**94:7** فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ

> So when thou art relieved, still toil

**94:8** وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب

> And strive to please thy Lord.
