# Surah Az-Zalzalah (الزلزلة)

Surah Az-Zalzalah (الزلزلة, "The Earthquake") is chapter 99 of the Quran and contains 8 verses. It is a Medinan surah, revealed 93th of the 114. It appears in juz 30, on pages 599–599 of the standard mushaf, divided into 1 rukus.

## Text

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

**99:1** إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا

> When Earth is shaken with her (final) earthquake

**99:2** وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا

> And Earth yieldeth up her burdens,

**99:3** وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا

> And man saith: What aileth her?

**99:4** يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا

> That day she will relate her chronicles,

**99:5** بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا

> Because thy Lord inspireth her.

**99:6** يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْا۟ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

> That day mankind will issue forth in scattered groups to be shown their deeds.

**99:7** فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُۥ

> And whoso doeth good an atom's weight will see it then,

**99:8** وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُۥ

> And whoso doeth ill an atom's weight will see it then.
